This 2020 Irish-bred mare, Hippy, is truly a joy to be around. Her gentle nature shines through in her kind expressions and calm demeanor, making her a favorite in the herd. After a brief racing career with three starts at Dundalk, Hippy joined the Center for Racehorse Retraining to begin her let-down process and transition to a new chapter.

Hippy has adapted beautifully, including a smooth transition to barefoot, and is now training at her foster program in Colorado, where she is settling in with ease. Recently, she was diagnosed with a small amount of arthritis in her hock. Though it doesn’t currently impact her comfort or abilities, it may require maintenance injections in the future to keep her performing at her best.

With her quiet confidence and sweet disposition, Hippy continues to show great promise as she moves through her training. We’re excited to support her progress and see her thrive in this new stage of her journey.
